Resident Spotlight: John Sears.

When asked how he would describe himself, John Sears will tell you he is proud that he is hardworking. John worked at a water plant in Tuskegee, Alabama for 37 years until he retired. He now lives happily at Charlton Place in Deatsville, Alabama. Within our close-knit community, residents feel confident about their health care and enjoy activity-filled days.

John says he was transferred to our community from a senior living community in Selma, Alabama. He enjoys being closer to his family in Macon County now. He grew up in Tallapoosa County, but later moved to Macon County for work. He married his wife July 16, 1965, and together they had three children.

John said his favorite part of our community is how well our responsive staff treats him. He also said he enjoys the food in our dining room. Special care is taken in the preparation of our delicious menu items to ensure every taste is catered to. Meals are served restaurant-style in our dining room to encourage fellowship and conversation. Trained cooks use fresh, local ingredients and create residents’ favorite foods according to their dietary needs. Fresh salads, homemade soups, sumptuous entrees and fabulous desserts are all created to order.

When asked how his friends would describe him, John said, “very independent, sweet and loving.” Our smaller, intimate community makes it easier to get well acquainted with residents, and we are grateful to serve each and every one.
